INTERIOR DESIGN PROGRAMME DETAILS :
The Interior Design Programme is more of practical creativity. Right from the inception the students are encouraged to learn by experimenting with all different aspects of design problems. The students are trained from the basics of Interior Design beginning with drawings of lines, shapes, scales, lettering, geometrical figures, plans, elevations, project drawings and slowly moving to different area of design and creative ideas.
The programme develops visulisation abilities with various approaches to rendering and shades. The students will have freehand approach to draw lines, figures,objects,views and moving to tracing of a layout with given plan and measurements.
Anthropometrics - About Human figures, standard figures and measurements.
Colour – Colour plays a major part in interior design. Its very important to learn details of colour spectrum , colour wheel, colour schemes.
Principles of Design – The concept of design function, size, scale, proportion, economics, aesthetics, rhythm , balance, harmony , variety , contrast , pattern.
Civil Construction – Introduction of civil construction materials, arches & lintels, types of bricks, brick bonding, load bearing wall, partition wall, stone masonry, staircases & types, Railings details, Mezzanine floor & advantages, loft.
Plumbing & Sanitary – Planning of plumbing system , details of plumbing works, sanitary fitting and appliances. Details of plumbing & sanitary layout, fitting & fixtures.
Furniture Design – wooden joineries, their constructional features and uses. Details of materials & furniture design. Hardware fittings and fixtures, adhesives. Details of office table, bed , wall cabinet, dining table, chairs, door detailing, windows, partitions, History of furniture.
Flooring – Types of flooring, advantages & disadvantages, costing, availability etc.
False Ceiling – Detailing of different types of false ceiling
Lighting – Types and systems, electrical lighting fittings, lighting sources. Electrical layout of the residence and office with general wiring and types of lighting etc.
Air conditioning – Different types, purposes, application, power, load , tonnage, ducting, drainage, fixing details, cost etc.
Materials Seminar – the objective of a materials seminar is to make every student to understand the importance of different materials used by interior designers. The students develop and present new ideas, materials report & presentation skills and also develop the answering ability.
Materials topics are discussed in the seminar with samples, company’s name, cost , application , usage, durability etc. Materials topics are handled with emphasis on the latest products. The topic includes , wood(door – windows), Timber & allied products, wall finishes, flooring, false ceiling , paints & polishes , lighting & electrical , sanitary & plumbing , upholstery, carpets, curtains, hardware etc.
Specialized Guest lectures – Guest lecturers by specialized faculty in their respective field on plumbing , lighting , air – conditioning , vaastu , landscaping , colour and furniture are also included in the programme.
Site visits / Case study – Various site visits / case study are arranged for the students during the programme.
Field training – Students have to undergo a field training at the end of the programme.
VIVA – Viva will be conducted be an external jury on the projects. Viva helps to test the students to know his / her idea , efforts & ability.
EXAMINATION :
Final examinations are held at the end of the programme. Students have to answer paper 1 – 5 . It is essential for each student to pass in sessional, viva and field training.
DURATION :
The Programme is structured and spread out for One year . It awards as Diploma in Interior Design Programme . Classes are held 3 days a week , two hours a day. |
